Aggregate Categories We Supply
Crushed rock, gravel and sand processed into defined grades for road, drainage and concrete applications. All quantities are quoted directly with our team based on project requirements.
Crushed Rock
Quarry rock reduced through staged crushing and screened into road base, sub-base and structural fill grades. Angular particle shape gives strong mechanical interlock under compaction, which is the property that lets a base course carry repeated vehicle loading without deforming.
Gravel
Screened into coarse and medium grades for drainage layers, pipe bedding, driveways and general fill. Gravel drains freely and resists frost heave and waterlogging better than fine material, making it suitable where free drainage matters more than bound strength.
Sand
Fine aggregate screened to remove oversize particles and control silt content, used in concrete mix design, mortar, plaster and blockwork where consistent fineness keeps mix proportions stable batch to batch.
Road Base & Sub-Base
Graded crushed rock blends designed for pavement base and sub-base layers, sized to a distribution that compacts to a dense, stable layer under a road roller and supports the sealed surface above it.
Quarry Rock & Rip-Rap
Larger unscreened and lightly sized rock for erosion protection, seawalls, culvert armouring and bulk fill where mass and durability matter more than a tight particle size range.
Concrete Aggregate Blends
Combined coarse and fine aggregate proportioned for batching plants and site-mixed concrete, matched to the mix design a project's engineer has specified.
How Material Is Sized And Checked
Extracted rock is reduced through primary crushing and then passed through secondary crushing where a finer output is needed. Material then runs over vibrating screens fitted with mesh sized to the grade being produced, splitting output into defined particle size classes rather than a single mixed pile.
Stockpiles are kept segregated by grade and covered or bunded where needed to limit cross-contamination and moisture pickup. Before a load goes out, the yard team checks for visible contamination such as clay clumps, organic debris or out-of-class oversize rock. Any load that does not visually and physically meet its stated grade is not released.
For contracts with a formal specification, such as a government road contract, we work from the particle size distribution and material properties set out in that specification rather than a generic grade, so the delivered material matches what the project's engineer has designed for.
Scaling Supply To The Project
Standing Truck Loads
Standard grades are stocked for direct truck loading to Port Vila sites without a production lead time.
Programmed Supply
Multi-week road or building contracts can be scheduled against the contractor's paving or pour programme in advance.
Outer Island Coordination
Deliveries beyond Port Vila are planned around vessel or barge scheduling and require additional lead time.
Material categories, grading and delivery timing are discussed directly with each contractor. Contact Andrew Thompson to describe your project and confirm what grade and volume fits it.
