Aggregates are the least visible and most necessary input in Vanuatu construction. Every sealed road, every slab of concrete, every drainage culvert and every building foundation across Port Vila and the outer islands depends on a supply of crushed rock, gravel or sand that has been sized, cleaned and delivered to a specification the contractor can trust. Without a dependable local source of quarry material, contractors are forced to import aggregate at high freight cost or substitute unsuitable material, both of which compromise structural performance and project timelines.

Three Core Aggregate Categories

Our production is organised around three material families, each processed to suit a different construction application.

Crushed Rock

Quarried rock reduced through primary and secondary crushing into angular fragments used for road base, sub-base and structural fill. Angularity gives the material strong particle interlock, which is what allows a compacted base course to carry vehicle loads without rutting.

Gravel

Naturally rounded or lightly crushed material in the coarse to medium size range, screened into working grades for drainage layers, pipe bedding, driveways and general fill where a well-draining, stable material is required rather than a bound structural layer.

Sand

Fine aggregate screened to remove oversize particles and excess silt, supplied for concrete mix design, mortar, plaster and blockwork. Consistent fineness and low organic content are what allow a batching plant to hold a stable mix design between deliveries.

Quality And Grading

Sizing Material To A Specification, Not A Guess

Every load that leaves our yard has passed through a screening process that separates material into defined particle size ranges. We run material over graded screens to split output into the size classes contractors specify for base course, sub-base, concrete aggregate and drainage fill, and we visually and physically check stockpiles for contamination from clay, organic matter or oversize rock before loading.

Grading consistency matters because a road base or a concrete mix is only as reliable as its weakest delivered load. A batch with too much fines content will hold water and lose bearing capacity; a batch with too many oversize particles will not compact evenly. We manage stockpiles by size class and rotate production so that contractors ordering the same grade across a multi-week project receive comparable material load after load.

Supply Reliability

Built Around Continuity Of Supply

Road works and concrete pours do not tolerate open-ended waiting. A paving crew stopped for lack of base course loses machine hours and labour cost; a batching plant without sand cannot pour on schedule. We plan production and stockpile levels against known demand from road contracts and building projects so that standard grades are on hand rather than produced on request.

For larger road or subdivision contracts we work directly with the contractor's programme to schedule crushing runs and truck loading around their compaction and paving sequence, rather than treating each truck as an isolated transaction. This coordination is particularly important for projects outside Port Vila, where transport time and vessel or barge scheduling to outer islands has to be built into the delivery plan well ahead of the pour or paving date.

Site Management

Quarrying With Attention To The Site And Its Surroundings

Quarrying disturbs ground, and we manage that disturbance rather than ignore it. Extraction faces are worked in benches rather than undercut, stockpile areas are bunded to control runoff, and drainage on site is directed away from watercourses to limit sediment carry-off during heavy rain, which in Vanuatu's climate can arrive with little warning.

Dust suppression on haul roads and at the crushing plant reduces impact on neighbouring land and on our own workforce, and plant and vehicles are maintained to limit fuel and oil leakage onto exposed ground. We treat these practices as part of running the quarry properly, not as a separate compliance exercise layered on top of production.
